REVIEW BY ELLEN DOBBS

Sydney, Raven, Alexia and Kelly are best friends and were all once followers of their “Breakup Code”. That Code was put to rest the year before, but now it’s time for a new one. The four friends agree to make a Crush Code. Kelly can use it to get a guy, Sydney can use it to help her shaky relationship with her boyfriend Drew, and Raven can use it to not fall for a crush with her boyfriend, Horace, away. But soon the Code is causing more trouble than good. The girls’ relationships begin to fall apart. Can they overcome their problems by summer’s end or will the Code ruin it for all of them?

This is the second novel in the Heartbreakers series by Pamela Wells. It’s a good book if you have read the first book, or not. This book touches on the delicate subjects of crushes, maintaining relationships and friendships. Each chapter focuses on a different girl’s opinion for what is happening in the story. It’s written well and lets you follow each girl’s story and how they react to the other girls. You see how they grow and progress through the summer. This book is easy to read and you can follow the story, even when it twists in ways unexpected.
