REVIEW BY ELLEN DOBBS

Aliens have invaded the planet; they join and become one with human bodies and use them as hosts. Most humans give in to the alien “souls” and fade into oblivion. But when a soul called Wanderer is placed into the body of Melanie Stryder, Melanie refuses to fade away. Wanderer and Melanie struggle to share one mind. Melanie pushes memories of her family into Wanderer’s thoughts. When Wanderer falls in love with Melanie’s family, they set out on the journey of their lives to find them.

Like Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight saga, The Host is written from one person’s point of view. It is Wanderer who tells of her adventures with Melanie. Meyer uses the memories Melanie shows Wanderer to help you piece together Melanie’s past.

This book is written in such a way that you are pulled right into the story. You don’t want to put it down until the very end. Meyer has a very unique writing style, which I really enjoy. Her characters are amazing with allies found in unexpected places and enemies thrown in with friends. This is one of my favourite books that I have read this year. I suggest this book to anyone who likes fiction novels, but if you don’t like love stories you may not enjoy parts of this novel.
