Plot: Tech-savvy Sam Flynn has been searching for his father who disappeared 20 years ago. He finally finds him when he gets pulled into the same visually stunning cyber world where his father has been trapped. Together, father and son must face technologically advanced vehicles, weapons and a ruthless villain if they wish to escape and go home.

This is a sequel to the original 1982 film, TRON which is credited as being a groundbreaking film in terms of computer-generated imagery. The head of Pixar, John Lasseter has stated, “without TRON there would be no Toy Story” and presumably any of the other fun-loving computer-animated movies made afterwards. This is why the sequel is such a cult hit and has been surrounded by so much hype.

In any case, Rotten Tomatoes gives it a “tomatometer” score of 49% – “TRON: Legacy boasts dazzling visuals, but its human characters and story get lost amidst its state-of-the-art production design”. All flash and no substance maybe? Of course who would watch this movie for substance in the first place?
