Ramona and Beezus (2010)

Directed by Elizabeth Allen

Starring Selena Gomez, Joey King, John Corbett, Bridget Moynahan, Sandra Oh

Plot: Based on the popular childrens’ book series by Beverly Cleary, this movie’s about third grader, Ramona and her older sister, Beezus. Ramona is an especially energetic, imaginative and mischievous child who can get under anyone’s nerves but she turns out to come in handy when her family’s home is in danger.

Did you Know… In one of the books, Beezus explains that her name is actually Beatrice. “Beezus” is what Ramona called her when she first started talking and couldn’t say “Beatrice”.

Review-wise, this film has actually done (perhaps surprisingly) well. Rotten Tomatoes gives it an average of 6.3/10 with the following consensus: “…sunny, sweet and wholesome, but it fails to capture the essence of its classic source material”. Doesn’t almost every book to film adaptation?

What do you think?
